CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At 8:45 AM on March 9, testing train 57661 slowly departed from Chongqingdong Railway Station, marking the official start of the comprehensive testing phase for the Chongqingdong-Qianjiang section of the newly constructed Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway. This is a key stage for project acceptance.

The Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway is an important part of the national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” railway network plan, linking Chongqing with the coastal city of Xiamen. It starts from Chongqing Railway Station, passes through districts such as Yuzhong, Nan’an, Banan, Nanchuan, Wulong, and Pengshui, and ends in Qianjiang District, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

“This comprehensive testing is for the section between Chongqingdong and Qianjiang,” said Yang Zhiyong, commander of the Wulong Command Center of Chongqing Guizhou Railway Co., Ltd. The newly constructed main line stretches approximately 250 kilometers and has seven stations along its route. Construction began in May 2020.

Yang also noted that the Chongqing Caiyuanba Yangtze River railway tunnel, which connects Chongqing Railway Station and Chongqingdong Railway Station, is still under construction but progressing steadily according to plan. The station building at Chongqingdong and the surrounding transportation hub are also nearing completion.
