CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On January 1, the reporter learned from Chongqing Frontier Inspection Station that by 24:00 on December 31, 2024, the total number of inbound and outbound passenger trips processed at Jiangbei International Airport exceeded 1.9 million last year. Among them, more than 220,000 were made by foreigners, hitting a new high, exceeding the total number in the whole year of 2019.

The relevant person in charge of Chongqing Frontier Inspection Station introduced that the total number of inbound and outbound passenger trips processed at Jiangbei International Airport exceeded 1.9 million in 2024, and the inbound and outbound flights exceeded 150,000, up 120% and 70% from last year respectively. In particular, over 220,000 inbound trips were made by foreigners entered the country, setting a new high, around 2.6-fold increase year-on-year, exceeding the total number in the whole year of 2019.

In 2024, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport continuously updated its flight networks and increased the frequency of its flights, with 29 international (regional) passenger routes operated, and over 300 flights served ever week.

Since the beginning of this year, China has continued to expand the scope of visa-free countries, eased and optimized transit and visa-free policies, making itself one of the trending topics on domestic and international media, and attracting fans, including a number of foreign travelers to Chongqing and other places in China for sight-seeing. This year, over 110,000 visa-free entries were made by foreigners at Chongqing International Airport, exceeding half of the total number of inbound foreigners entered the country in the whole year.

In response to the continuous surge of inbound and outbound passenger flow, Chongqing Frontier Inspection Station has always taken various measures to meet the needs for service and security, including services introduced for the convenience of the people such as providing electronic boarding pass, ensuring a high on-schedule rate of outbound flights and enabling passengers to get off and cargo to be unloaded from inbound flights once arrived. It has also set up special areas for handling transit visa-free procedures, continuously optimized border inspection procedures, improved port clearance efficiency, enabled passengers to spend less time waiting for inspection, and worked hard to create a safe and efficient clearance environment. Through these efforts, it will make all efforts to build the image of Chongqing as a gateway to the world, and contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of building Chongqing into an inland opening-up highland and an international hub city.

Since January 1, 2025, to make it easier for foreigners to go through entry inspection procedures, Chongqing Frontier Inspection Station, in collaboration with Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Co., Ltd., officially launched an online platform self-service declaration of foreigners' arrival cards, which allow foreign travelers who entered the country from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport via international flights to fill out their Foreigners' Arrival Cards online in advance, and the cards can be printed at the inspection site upon arrival at the airport.
