CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On March 24, a mountain tea-leaves-picking robot was picking tea-leaves at a research and test base under the Tea Research Institute of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Science.

This is the first mountain tea-leaves-picking robot put into use in Chongqing, independently developed by Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Science working with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, by considering the features of mountain tea gardens in Chongqing and the requirement for picking leaves of quality Yongchuan green tea. It is able to pick one leave every 2 seconds, equivalent to an adult picker. It is learned that Chongqing boasts over 1 million mu of tea garden in total, always suffering the shortage of tea-leave pickers.
