CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 31, skilled technicians at the Dianjiang-Fengdu-Wulong Highway’s smart rebar workshop were busy accelerating production.

Upon completion, the Dianjiang-Fengdu-Wulong Highway will connect urban clusters across northeastern and southeastern Chongqing. The tunnels, among the project’s most challenging sections, employ a “BIM + Smart Site” management system that automatically collects and analyzes real-time safety data, personnel movements, equipment status, and surveillance feeds, enabling dynamic construction oversight and enhanced worksite safety.

Even with the intense heat, the construction crew maintains round-the-clock operations, achieving 5-meter daily tunneling progress through bidirectional excavation. (Photographed by Luo Bin / Visual Chongqing)
