CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 21, Sujiaping and Tapingcun tunnels on Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway 11th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, were successfully holed through on the same day, kicking off the final sprint towards the project’s completion.

Both tunnels serve as critical nodes for Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway. Tapingcun Tunnel spans 3,484 meters, while Sujiaping Tunnel extends for 6,655 meters.

It’s understood that Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway is a key component of China’s “Eight Vertical and Horizontal” high-speed rail network, forming a section of both Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou and Beijing-Kunming corridors. Once operational, it will cut the travel time between Chongqing’s downtown areas and Wanzhou to under one hour, significantly improving commute convenience for residents along the railway and boosting regional economic and social development.
