CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 29, the Panshicheng (Stone Fortress) Site Park in Yunyang, hailed as the “First Fortress along the Yangtze River”, officially opened to the public.
Known historically as Mopan Village, Panshicheng is a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Chongqing and a key historical landmark in the Three Gorges reservoir area, carrying profound military and cultural significance. Systematic archaeological excavations in recent years have uncovered more than 1,400 artifacts, revealing over 5,300 years of continuous human activity at the site.
The park adopts an innovative model as an “archaeological site park”, integrating excavation, academic research, heritage display, and public engagement in a seamless experience.
