CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 11, construction was in full swing at the site of the Zaodu Reservoir in Ganshui Town, Qijiang District — a major national water conservancy project in Chongqing. Vehicles shuttled nonstop across the dam, working in sync with excavators, bulldozers, and water trucks to speed up the filling process according to schedule. (Drone photo)

The reservoir is designed mainly for flood control, water supply, and irrigation, with the added benefit of power generation. Once completed, it will become the largest agricultural irrigation reservoir in Chongqing by capacity. It is expected to irrigate an additional and improved area of approximately 234,600 mu, generate 44.94 million kWh of electricity annually, and benefit over 3 million people. It will also raise the Qijiang urban area’s flood protection standard to withstand once-in-50-year events. (Photographed by Long Fan / Visual Chongqing)
