CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In recent years, Nanmen Town has capitalized on its resource advantages to move its sugarcane industry up the value chain by processing fresh cane into higher-value brown sugar. This transition has generated an output value of more than 10,000 yuan per mu. “Nanmen Brown Sugar” has since grown into a distinctive local industry that boosts household incomes, supported by an integrated chain covering cultivation, processing, and sales. At present, the Town has over 10,000 mu of sugarcane under cultivation, and local villagers operate five brown sugar processing workshops. Together, they produce about 5 million kilograms of brown sugar annually, generating an output value of 190 million yuan. This industry has effectively increased local employment and income, injecting sustained momentum into rural revitalization. (Photographed by Zhang Chunxiao / Visual Chongqing)
