CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In recent days, ripening citrus fruits have added vivid color to parts of Zhuoshui Ancient Town in Qianjiang District. Zhuoshui is a millennia-old ancient town integrating clusters of Tujia stilted houses, a historic river port, and a traditional trading hub. As the Apeng River flows through the town, it has earned the name “Water Town of Wuling”. In recent years, Qianjiang District has developed more than 10,000 mu of ponkan and Orah mandarin orchards along both banks of the Apeng River. This has not only helped protect and enhance the river’s ecological environment, but has also turned citrus cultivation into a distinctive local industry, increasing farmers’ incomes and supporting rural revitalization. Now in the harvest season, ripe citrus in shades of red and yellow sets off Zhuoshui Ancient Town as a unique and captivating sight, forming a landscape of striking beauty.
